Changing Accounts of History

A lot of people (now more than ever) are drilling people
to provide “evidence” for things they talk about,
whether because they are closed-minded or because
our society has lost so much credibility due to the overabundance of hearsay and phony claims which are
often backed up by fraudulent sources.
Being alive for more than a half a century is more than
enough time for anyone to notice the inconsistencies of
events and accounts to happenings in our lives, as well
as how they are told and kept. I’ve certainly have
noticed the change in information of things I’ve
experienced or read about, as I’m sure others my age
has. The stories change with the internet and dialogues
stored electronically. Many stories have been changes
from what they originally or new ones have been
formulated to be accepting in the popular mainstream.
The movie industry is a big culprit. Many biographies
and documentaries are screenplays written to omit and
change facts they are said to depict. Keep in mind that
“Based on a true story” and “a true story” are totally
different. The defense used by producers and directors
most commonly would be ones like legalities, or
“respect” for family and friends of the subjects in these
bios. In actual fact, producers go by what is believable,
profitable and more intellectually digestible as opposed
what is truthful, sensible and with understanding to
people’s lives.
Being truthful is not a sacrifice, except by people who
feel that life is more enjoyable having control over what
they would like to see as reality, and taking what is
offered in easy digestible soundbites.
