Matters Then and Now

I can remember over the past number of years of all
the times where I got into debates with people over
wrongdoing that they chose to defend. They would use
talking points that they had come up in defense of bad
people doing horrible things that they wanted to believe
weren’t so bad. Such debates were in person, on social
media or on the phone. I would end most of these
debates by telling them, “You will see what comes of
it.” Pretty much all of these debates were with people
who so-called liberals, so-called humanitarians, socalled free-thinkers, or so-called intellectuals.
Nowadays, I notice that all these people who used to
debate/argue with me on my talking points have been
changing theirs. Now the talking points that they had
opposed me for making are talking points that they
carry out themselves if they don’t lose their minds first.
Now they oppose the same problems about things (as I
do) as though if it was all something new. As they
sound like me, I remark on it, and they respond by
trying to guilt me into feeling like I had never known
what I was talking about because they don’t want to
admit that they had misjudged situations for what they
were, or that they had turned a blind-eye to the matters
I had discussed. They don’t want to admit that they are
learning the hard way.
It’s not like I ever wanted to change anyone. However,
many people have changed, and not always for the
better. Now some of these so-called liberals are
conservatives or moderates, while other so-called
liberals are socialists. Now these so-called
humanitarians are realists. Some of these so-called
free-thinkers are waking up to what is happening.
These so-called intellectuals are either eating humble
pie or doubling down on their wrongs because they
don’t have the self-respect to admit that they were
wrong. Now people are worried about the future
America, all because they turned a blind eye in the
past.
The future of America all depends on how fast
Americans actually wake up and smell the coffee.
People like me worry in that it won’t be fast enough. I
personally don’t feel sorry for anyone complaining
about problems now, despite people like me who were
talking about for over thirty years. I was always one to
make sure to never go through life with unresolved
issues. Moving on does NOT mean ignoring matters
and letting time be the healer. Moving on means
dealing with issues and searching to get to the bottom
of matters as to resolve them properly, and learning
from it all.
History (in some ways) has been repeating itself to the
point where many people don’t want to resolve
problems, but just destroy things so that they don’t
have to think about them ever again. That’s what vigilanti groups, power, denial and corruption are all about.
Everyone wants to do things their way or the highway.
No compromise, no medium, and no respect.
I believe in the premise of “live and let live” and the
golden rule. I did when I was young and I still do now. I
am sure others feel as I do, but they are hard to hook
up with.
