An example of corporate campaigning and downside to political parties is NJ governor candidate Jack Ciattarelli. He lacks interest to connect with potential voters. I was told he’s a busy man, but found that he’s tied up in campaign efforts and cooperate sponsors. After efforts to reach him, I’m one of several that his staff blocked from his Facebook page and shadow-banned from his official website with notice, claiming me as trying to hack his site, which I’d never do.
I was told by others that involvement with Jack Ciattarelli requires being a registered Republican money donation. I’m an independent and don’t register with political parties although I’m happy to speak to them. I like Jack. He has good ideas and plans for New Jersey, but selective of supporters.
The only response I got from his campaign team is a large print email from him asking me about my income level and informing me that Jack is only interested in those who earn over $50,000 annually, and why I don’t have a driver’s license. I answered that I’m legally blind and was told Jack has little knowledge or interest in working with people with sensory disabilities.
He’s also specific of what areas of New Jersy are “good and bad”. This email came from “Alex Ciattarelli”, whoever that is. I wanted to keep the email I got from his campaign, but It expired before I could copy/paste it. Still, I wish Jack well and open to help if given the chance.
This is a very good example of why we don’t always get the best leadership in government. Most times, Americans vote for a chosen party, not for a particular candidate. The party system has swayed people aay from thinking about or learning who the candidates for office are. I’ve always learned in life that you can’t be selective about your supporters if you want a good turnout of good people. Income level, physical disability should not be an issue.
Most of the framers of the US Constitution were against political parties from the very beginning, but people formed them anyway. The campaign system has too much money involved in it and not enough about the candidate. Negative campaigns are more and more common and don’t tell you anything about the candidate who are running for any public office position. As a result, half our government at the state and local level are being led by bad people. If things were to be done right, we would only put term limits with congressional credit ratings. We would make sure that all candidates are actual citizens of their country. We would require that all potential candidates take a government test like all government employees do. I myself at one time thought a third party was a good idea until I started to see all the problem political parties in general face, and started to wonder why grass-roots campaigns never caught on. However, people don’t want to bother to do things responsibly. Instead, they would prefer go spending all their time an money giving to the campaigns and volunteering useless buttons, signs, posters and other campaign accessories out.
