On example of opportunity coming the wrong way is
that of the Kardashian family, who (Kourtney, Kim,
Khloe and Rob) are “reality TV” actresses from
becoming famous for being famous. They attained
celebrity status for no particular recognizable reason
(as opposed to fame based on achievements, skill,
and/or talent) and it just appears to generate their fame
based on inheritance, looks, or someone who achieves
fame through association with an actual celebrity (such
as being the wife, son, etc. of one).
The Kardashian sisters have received notability due to
family relationships with public figures. In the case of
the Kardashians, they have achieved their initial fame
from their deceased father, Robert Kardashian, who
among other things was O. J. Simpson’s lawyer in the
1994 murder case as well as their family link to former
Olympic track and field athlete Bruce Jenner (who is
now transgender). Among other things, they have had
the best photographers, make-up artists, production
staff, and a lot of money in which they inherited, so
they look nothing like what their admirers see or follow.
Like many people who do succeed today, the
Kardashians are vain, shallow, plastic, condescending,
untalented, overly-rich women who have ruined their
father’s good name with their reality TV series and their
overrated fashion gook. They have forgotten their roots
and take life too much for granted, as every useless
celebrity does.
People like the Kardashians set a bad precedent for
our society by making other people want to set their
objectives on getting things for nothing. Is this what is
meant by success in America?
One big reason among many that the working class is
no more is because today’s success comes more with
connections, not hard work. Continuing education has
simply become a high-priced human resource center
for companies more than an institution for higher
learning for career enhancement. It is rare now to see
a person “survive the odds” that it has to be shown on
TV. This was not how it was meant to be.
It is easy to expose people who do not earn their
money deservingly. Their spending habits can reflect
that, as well as their stance on honesty and fairplay.
