So many Americans have been buying excessively for a long time, either on credit or with money they could have put into savings. Excess is a big problem and there is little self-control over bad lifestyle habits. If you don’t like hearing of how most Americans are second-rate shoppers (which many are), then they should stop the careless shopping and waste. Some examples are:
- Stop throwing furniture in the garbage to collect insurance or just to have a change. Buy things that last, as not to replace items so much. Material change alone will not improve life very much.
- Cook and prepare the majority of your own meals, especially if you have a family of two or more.
- Stop buying foolish things such as lottery tickets, cigarettes, make-up, tattoos, touch-ups on hair and nails, firearms and jewelry. Keep in mind that fast fashion and old narcotic addiction is a waste.
- Stop giving to charities. Virtually all American charity organizations nowadays give less than 10% of any money to the cause they advertise about. They best things you can do for others voluntarily is not monetary.
- Stop giving to religious organizations. Religious leaders and their staff each have as much money as any legal or medical firm. Religion may be a constitution right, but it’s only a benefit on a recreational level.
- Stop “buying American”, for the sake of being a patriot. Buy based on what it is, not where it was made. If we are to buy American, we need to make better products rather than outsourcing. Keep in mind that bring industry back to our country, and work on making quality.
Should I mention that many other civilized countries are laughing at us. We are now a country of people who (outside of front-line workers) only want to make money, but don’t want to work for it. The economy was never very strong because its foundation was an overall weak industry. Hospitality and fashion change are never stable, plus it is a cover up for authenticity and quality and useful trade.
The fact that we have so many people that have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 lockdown is catastrophic, but not a shock. People who know that their businesses are not coming back could look into what else they could do to for productive work, but many would rather be angry. As quoted from a song written by a famous artist, “they started to fight when the money got tight; they just couldn’t count on the tears” Trade and skill are more valuable than continuing education, and more rewarding.
