Prime Example of Corrupt Politics

Let’s use former New York State governor Andrew Cuomo as a prime example of corrupt politics and how it can sway supporters long term. Supporters of Andrew Cuomo, (whatever ones are left) will tell you that nobody loved New York more than him, and especially loves the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, thinking that it wouldn’t operate well if he was still in office.
However, it was Andrew Cuomo who put out and executive order ten years ago to cancel maintenance on the sewage and drain systems that provide water to escape. He also sharply reduced the money for renovations on streets that had undergone construction from utility digging. That’s why there are so many floods in subway tunnels now in New York City. I don’t think he had taken a NYC subway or bus for over 40 years. People saying “nobody loved NYS more than
him” is a surprise to me.
Some think Andrew Cuomo had who fought the federal
government for billions of dollars to subsidy the MTA
got as well as federal aid to fix the tunnels in the Hudson River for the North East Corridor.
Of course, we know that none of that is true. For starters, the Hudson tunnels have nothing to do with the state of New York, being that they are owned and operated by the National Rail Passenger Association, so Cuomo would have no say in its operation. The money you thought he fought for was originally money that was originally earmarked for subsidizing Social
Security benefits for senior citizens. That’s why he put a statewide order for NYS nursing homes to accept COVID patients. It was on his original premise that “You can’t collect if you are no longer living”, which he said himself on national TV during his first term as governor. That was how he originally got the vote of young adults.
Of course, three terms as governor of a state would give a lot of time for corruption to be carried out without being conspicuous to the public. When citizens don’t follow things going on, they can be in for many surprises.
This, my friends, is an insightful view of how American
corruption is so successful. This is why a corrupt politician hardly ever goes to jail.
